Part 5: Enough Yellow

This is the last blog post of the sunflower series.  As much as I love yellow, 4 blog posts featuring yellow in a row is a lot. This last post is dedicated to playing with the above photo in Photoshop.  The original photo had a very nice shallow depth of field (blurry background) which translated nicely into black and white.  I desaturated the photo above.  Then I applied a sketching filter to a copy of the desaturated layer, which I titled sketching.  I changed the mode of the sketching layer to multiply.  Then I opened the levels menu and bumped up the middle slider to somewhere around .40.  Then I added some brown tones to the photo by colorizing it using the Hues/Saturation menu.  If any of this process makes sense to you, try it.

agreed. the yellow gets to ya after awhile.
